Butterfield and Swire requested Sir M. Nathan to recommend

to Your Lordship that the lease for Shaukiwan Inland Lot

408 and Shaukiwan Marine Lots 2

-tended for a period of 999 years. Sir M. Nathan on the

3rd. August, 1906, agreed to forward their application, but

stated that he could not recommend it. As, however, on the

5th. of last November Messrs. Butterfield and Swire repeat-

-ed their request, I have the honour to submit it for Your

Lordship's consideration, though, like Sir Matthew Nathan,

I am of opinion that the present case does not call for

exceptional treatment.
